SALSA Essentials: Leadership, Compliance, and Operations Professional Development in Assisted Living and Life Plan Communities Program
Friday, August 14 9:00 am to 3:00 pm with registration starting at 8:30 am | Held at 110 Barnes Rd, Wallingford, CT (CHA Building)
A one-day professional development program designed primarily for new SALSAs. Participants will gain practical knowledge and insight into key state regulatory requirements, the role of policies and procedures, and how compliance shows up in day-to-day operations. The program also explores real-world leadership and operational challenges, including managing scheduling demands, strengthening collaboration across teams, and understanding the day-to-day responsibilities of the SALSA role. Participants will leave with greater confidence to lead their team, support compliance, and manage daily operations effectively.
Learning Objectives • Understand key state regulatory requirements that apply to SALSAs and how they guide daily operations and compliance expectations. • Understand the purpose of policies and procedures and how they support consistency, accountability, and quality in practice. • Apply practical approaches to managing scheduling challenges, including staffing coverage, competing priorities, and operational demands. • Recognize the importance of collaboration across teams, leadership, and external partners in supporting effective operations and resident-centered care. • Understand the key components of a “day in the life” of a SALSA and how responsibilities shift across clinical, operational, and leadership functions. • Identify core leadership competencies needed in the SALSA role, including communication, decision-making, and team leadership.

• A certification of course completion from LeadingAge Connecticut & Rhode Island will be available at the end of the program. • Registration is a commitment to pay in full. • Deadline to register is Friday, August 7.
